New Year, New Challenges
The latest national lockdown has once again brought the hospitality industry to a standstill, and we are gutted that so many of our customers have had to shut their doors and wait for the news of reopening. As I write this our business faces a multitude of challenges, something that has become all too familiar over the last twelve months. From Brexit and buying stock ahead to protect against a no deal, to customers in different tiers, managing staff rotas to accommodate childcare and home schooling, to supply chain struggles as the entire country tackles COVID. The battle has been long, stressful, and emotional.
Agility and fighting back.
We pride ourselves that in recent years we have built a team and business that has embraced technology which can be utilised to enhance our service. For all the ‘Instagram peacocking’ posts that are thrown out onto our social media platforms, the reality is that we are a family run business based in the heart of the Lake District, made up of 150 people with a can-do attitude and a hands-on approach from top to bottom. When we have needed to adapt our business, we have done, Caterite Click and Collect highlighting our agility and resourcefulness. So far, we have fulfilled over 25,000 orders to our local communities and helped to slow the spread of the coronavirus by providing an alternative to supermarkets. Our new customers have helped to maintain our fresh supply chain, and keep the wheels of the business turning, which will inevitably support the reopening of the hospitality sector.
The vaccination rollout is well underway and there is hope on the horizon for us all. The next challenge facing us is to navigate an uncertain landscape and continue to support the hospitality industry with a first-class service focusing on product, quality, and reliability. A return to doing what we love, fingers crossed!
