Shepherds Purse Yorkshire Blue (Approx. 750g)
Yorkshire Blue is a rich, creamy and wonderfully mellow blue cheese that has become one of Britain’s most celebrated artisan cheeses.
Handcrafted on a family farm in North Yorkshire using locally sourced cow’s milk, it is matured for a minimum of eight weeks, with each cheese carefully turned by hand throughout the maturation process to encourage its distinctive blue veining and smooth, buttery texture. Mild, sweet and creamy when young, the flavour develops greater depth with age while retaining the balanced character that makes it an ideal introduction to blue cheese.
Perfect for cheeseboards, crumbled over salads, stirred through sauces or simply enjoyed with fresh bread, Yorkshire Blue has remained a customer favourite since its launch in 1995.
The first blue cheese to be made in Yorkshire for more than 30 years, Yorkshire Blue remains the flagship cheese of the Shepherds Purse range. Since its launch, it has received numerous national and international accolades, including being crowned Best English Cheese at the International Cheese Awards, alongside Gold medals and awards at the British Cheese Awards, International Cheese & Dairy Awards and World Cheese Awards.

| About Producer | Shepherds Purse began in the late 1980’s when Judy Bell discovered her passion and talent for cheese making. Having started by making cheese only from sheep milk, they extended their range to include cow's milk and even water buffalo milk cheeses. Today, they are best known for their blue cheeses Yorkshire Blue and Harrogate Blue, and for their sheep milk Mediterranean salad-style cheese, Yorkshire Fettle as well as their sheep milk blue Mrs Bell's Blue. As Shepherds Purse has grown, they remain a proud, independent family business, making cheese in the traditional way on their farm in North Yorkshire. The Shepherds Purse team is now a team of 35 passionate artisans being led by Judy’s two daughters Katie and Caroline. |
